ALEX'S FAITH STORY

Alex grew up not knowing his father and living with his mother until he was eight, when his mom's boyfriend abused him, which thrust him into foster care. He spent the rest of his childhood in various group homes and foster homes, yet always feeling "someone" was out there who cared about him.

When he was sixteen he was invited to a vibrant church. There, the youth Sunday school teacher led him in accepting Christ as his personal Savior. In his early twenties, he joined a community of Christ followers his own age and started walking more consistently with the Lord.  He loves serving others with his gift and talents, and continuing to grow closer to Jesus with his wife and kids.

In 2008, I produced the Asia Pacific Experience at World Missions Summit and was challenged in one evening service to "give a year and pray about a lifetime." I responded, connected with a missionary doing media ministry, and spent six weeks working with Asia Pacific Media  in 2009, and then served as the Production Coordinator for one year from 2013-2014.

Because of my background I always felt passionate about serving locally because I felt like I would be turning my back on kids like me if I served globally. It was when the junior high pastor I worked under and was close friends with became a missionary to Indonesia that God softened my heart toward global missions.

In addition to all of the above, I’m a 30-plus-father-of-two-under-three that likes pixelated 2D games made before 1999. I love my God, my wife, my kids, and in a very distant eighth, retro gaming.
